Drug Addicts and Pedophiles and Adulterers, Oh My. I Can't Stay Quiet Any Longer

Drug Addicts and Pedophiles and Adulterers, Oh My. I Can't Stay Quiet Any Longer
by: Sharon Cobb

I can't keep my mouth shut any longer. In the last week, I have seen non stop coverage of mourning of two very talented people, Michael Jackson and now Steve McNair, who were phenomenal in their chosen professions, but were morally bankrupt.

I can't stay quiet any longer about it. If they had been in their 20s, I'd stay quiet. But these were grown men.

First, Michael Jackson. He was peerless. He was to this generation what the Beatles were to my generation. But he was also a drug addict and though found innocent, quite possibly a pedophile.

Then we have/had Steve McNair, against all odds, took us (Nashville) to the Superbowl and came up one yard short. He was involved in the community, and tried to be a role model to young people. But there are 4 young people who know their daddy cheated on their mommy and he's dead. What kind of role model is that?

I'm going to scream if I hear on the news one more time that he was a great husband and father. Ask his wife if he was a great husband. The news is rubbing salt in a wound with that one. Besides, what if the Mrs. is the one who killed him in a crime of passion? McNair wasn't thinking of HIS children and HIS wife, yet everyone overlooks it.

Then in the same week, we saw Farrah Fawcett pass, who wanted to use her passing to help people understand anal cancer, and how important stem cell research was in extending the life of someone with stage 4 cancer. See, that should be the big story, how to save lives, but her story has gotten lost to drug addicts, pedophiles and adulterers.

Then let's not forget Sahel Kazemi, the barely 20 year old who was in love with the married Steve McNair, who believed he was going to leave his wife for her and wasn't thinking of Mrs. McNair, but, was the most innocent of all involved given her naivete. Barely 20, a stupid mistake that she thought was love, that turned out to be death. There will be no memorials for her. No one will remember her name. Heck, people can't even pronounce it now. I'm not excusing her behavior, but she shouldn't have paid with her life for her mistake, while Steve was old enough to know the potential consequences to everyone in his life.

I don't believe she killed McNair. I could be wrong, and it's certainly a feeling, not fact, but I think Mrs. McNair did it in a crime of passion, or the ex boyfriend, Mr. Norfleet did it. I could be wrong. Two basically good people are dead because they stupidly did something bad.

See, this is why moderate Muslims hate us. On this issue, they have their priorities straight. Their families come first, and if one of their celebrities misbehaves they don't excuse it, they practically riot over it.

Personally, I shed tears for the firefighter who rushes into a burning building to save a baby by tossing it out a window to waiting partner, while he/she knows he/she will die by going in. That's a hero. Will Americans ever fill a stadium or church for that firefighter? Hell no.

And that's one of the things that is wrong with us and it's happening more and more and it's making me crazy.

Michael, thank you for the amazing music and dancing through the years, and Steve, you were a wonderful quarterback. I'm not your judge. I hope your judge has forgiven you.

And Farrah, when all the hoopla surrounding the drug addicts, pedophiles and adulterers dies down, your message will be heard and it will save lives. Thank you, Miss Fawcett.

UPDATE: Word for word from The Tennessean:The gun recovered at the scene of the deaths of Steve McNair and Sahel Kazemi was purchased by Kazemi recently, Metro police have confirmed.
